Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci has highlighted the global risk of crime and sexual violence for millions of children. In Fiji, this risk is reflected in monthly statistics.

The Fiji Police Partnership Programme involves senior New Zealand Police Liaison officers and Fiji Police. They have achieved significant milestones through training and capacity building.

The Child Interview Course opened, allowing investigators to use video recordings to interview children, which will be admitted to court as evidence.

Raikaci believes that this training can prevent children from being re-victimized. He emphasizes the importance of investigation as a proactive part of policing.

He believes successful prosecutions through thorough investigation will send a strong message to perpetrators, deterring them.
