Fiji to soon have it’s first ever Children’s Heart Hospital

Updated: 8:20am – Fiji will soon have it’s first ever Children’s Heart Hospital as soon as November 2019.

This was revealed by the Sai Prema Foundation Chairman, Mahen Tappoo while speaking at the Opening of the Sri Sathya Sanjeevani Medical Centre in Nasese.

Tappoo says this will be the South Pacific’s first Paediatric Cardiac Hospital which will provide the children of Fiji and the neighbouring countries with free surgeries.

The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Centre will offer general outpatient services, it will also be offering services that look directly at Non-Communicable Diseases that include, cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and diabetes.

Sai Prema Foundation, Medical Coordinator, Dr Krupali Tappoo says these services are free of charge as they are also targetting to serve low-income earning families and needy people adding that the Health Centre services will be fully operational next month.

Also present at the opening was Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama who acknowledged the Sai Prema Foundation for giving a second chance at life to 27 children following heart surgeries last week.

Ministers, Dignitaries and people present also took the time to sing Happy Birthday to the Prime Minister.
