10 out of 26 FijiFirst MPs, who are now independent, are considering supporting the People’s Alliance Party to endorse Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
Independent MP Mosese Bulitavu has confirmed his intention to support the Prime Minister but has not been approached by the People’s Alliance, SODELPA, or NFP to join their parties.
Furthermore, he has not discussed his options with the Prime Minister.
Rabuka has shown his openness to a Government of National Unity, which could lead to necessary changes to the 2013 Constitution.
If the People’s Alliance secures the support of 10 MPs, it will have 31 MPs on its side, with the NFP and SODELPA also supporting it. The remaining 16 independents will stay in the Opposition.
