A 14-year-old girl saved her one-year-old twin sisters from a fire that destroyed their home in Tavakubu Back Road, Lautoka.
The fire broke out while the parents were at work, leaving the siblings alone in the one-bedroom house.
The girl noticed the heat and smoke and quickly evacuated her sisters to a neighbor’s house.
The National Fire Authority (NFA) received the alert, and firefighters arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames.
Despite their efforts, the house was destroyed, with damages estimated at $25,000. No injuries were reported, but the house was uninsured.
NFA chief executive officer Puamau Sowane emphasized the importance of vigilance and fire safety, especially when children are left at home.
