Ravnit Dass, a 32-year-old mechanic, was found floating in the Cuvu River by two farmers working on their plantations near the community.
Dass’s father, Rattan Kumar, said they last spoke on Monday. He dropped his tools and said he was going to his friend’s house.
Subrail Narayan, chairman of the Nadroga Navosa Advisory Council, described Dass as a smart, hard-working man with a good heart.
Police were notified, and the deceased male was identified. The investigation continues, and funeral arrangements will commence after a post-mortem examination.
The community is in shock as this is a significant loss.
