A six-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle near his home in Waisasa Settlement, Tacirua, shortly after school. The boy, a Year One student at Tacirua Primary School, was walking home when the incident occurred.
An eyewitness reported that the boy was struck by a car attempting to overtake the bus from which he had just disembarked. The incident occurred as the boy crossed the road several metres ahead of the parked bus.
The vehicle hit him on the shoulder, and his head struck the pavement. Two police officers responded immediately, and the boy’s mother, Buna Ikanivere, reported that other children informed her of the incident.
The boy was taken to Valelevu Health Centre and later transferred to the CWM Hospital for further treatment.
