An officer was arrested for attempting to smuggle marijuana

An officer at the Minimum Correction Centre in Naboro, Fiji, was caught attempting to smuggle marijuana, suki, and mobile phones during his night shift.

The officer was found with marijuana, two mobile phones without SIM cards, and suki, and was already under suspicion for potential involvement in smuggling contraband for inmates.

The officer was seen leaving his post around 12:30 am and going to the guard room. He was observed taking two parcels of marijuana and suki from his bag and placing them in his pockets.

When he tried to return to his post, other officers stopped him and found the contraband. Two mobile phones were also found in his bag.

Currently, the officer is being held at the Emergency Control Unit base for further investigation and disciplinary action. The Corrections Service maintains a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and contraband smuggling within its facilities.
