Due to a Fiji Corrections Service investigation, former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will be handcuffed during all court appearances. The service confirmed that Bainimarama signed documents for Fiji First Party parliamentarians during a court session, breaching established protocols.

Corrections Commissioner Dr Jalesi Nakarawa stated that the breach is unacceptable and that disciplinary action will be taken against officers responsible for escorting Bainimarama during his court appearance.

The investigation revealed a failure to adhere to procedural guidelines for handling detainees during judicial proceedings, which compromised the integrity of operations. Nakarawa stressed the need to uphold the highest standards of conduct and security and emphasized the responsibility of the Corrections Service to ensure fair treatment of detainees while maintaining strict security measures.
