Fiji’s Finance Minister, Professor Biman Prasad, announced that the Australian government’s $450 million budget support has been used to fund important development projects, focusing on the health sector.
This funding will help the government fulfill its commitments to the people and support initiatives related to climate change, disasters, social resilience, private sector-led economic recovery, and the strengthening of debt and public financial management.
Approximately $87 million has been allocated to policy reforms, with around $15 million directed to the rehabilitation of the CWM hospital, $9 million for the Fiji Rural Electrification Fund, and $56 million for the Fiji Cyclone Disaster Recovery Program.
The Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, Ewen McDonald, mentioned that the funds were released after careful consultations and expressed confidence in their continued success.
The Vuvale partnership is based on mutual trust, respect, and deep commitment between the two countries.
