Former Post Fiji Limited CEO Anirudha Bansod has been sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for abusing his office.
The charges relate to providing false confidentiality and conflict of interest declarations for a significant project, the tender for the design, development, and implementation of the Post Fiji Mobile Application in 2022.
Magistrate Yogesh Prasad ruled that Bansod breached the trust of a government enterprise, which prevented him from making good corporate decisions in the company’s best interest.
Initially, the sentencing was 3 years, but it was reduced to 1 year and 6 months due to mitigating factors and enhanced by 2 years for aggravating factors.
Bansod’s sentence was further suspended by 1 year and 6 months for pleading guilty, but he will still serve 1 year and 6 months in prison.
