Two former iTaukei Land Trust Board employees, Josaia Waqairatu and Nemani Tamani, have been charged with corruption-related offenses by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption.
Waqairatu processed and approved a land lease application in September 2016 without following relevant policies and procedures, while Tamani cancelled the application between January 2018 and December 2019.

In addition, two other individuals, Mocevou Rakabikabi and Varun Chand, have been charged with alleged land scams.
Rakabikabi purported to sell a piece of land he did not own in Salusalu Street, Namara, in Labasa, to various individuals, obtaining a financial advantage of $60,000.
Chand also purported to sell a piece of land at the same location to two individuals, obtaining a $28,000 financial advantage.
All the accused were granted bail for $1000 each with strict bail conditions. The matter has been adjourned to October 2nd.
