The Health Ministry in Fiji has criticized certain facilities for not meeting standards due to a lack of proper procedures.
The Minister for Health, Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu, emphasized the need for thorough planning before upgrading nursing stations and health centers.
He stated that planning, constructing infrastructure, and transitioning to new facilities are vital steps.
While some facilities have been upgraded in name, the Ministry is now responsible for making necessary infrastructural improvements.
A preliminary budget has been allocated for the planning process of these facilities.
The Ministry is dedicated to resolving the issue and will prioritize infrastructure upgrades, including expanding facility space and providing accommodations for the improvements.
