In the past month, 12 incidents of severe sexual offenses were reported in Valelevu. 15 out of the 24 victims were under 18 years old. There were two males and 22 females.
A 53-year-old man has been charged with three counts of rape. One count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault of a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old man in Valelevu.
A 17-year-old boy was charged with the rape and indecent assault of a 15-year-old girl. A 76-year-old man was charged with one count of rape of his 8-year-old granddaughter.
Man aged 57 was charged with three counts of rape of his 16-year-old granddaughter. 40-year-old man was charged with nine representative counts of rape of his 8-year-old daughter.
72-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape of his 17-year-old stepdaughter. This matter was discontinued after the accused person’s death.
35-year-old man was charged with one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault of his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
32-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 20-year-old woman and another incident a 29-year-old man was charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl. Eight cases were discontinued due to insufficient and inconsistent evidence. The victims could not be contacted or located, and false complaints.
26 people were charged with a total of 70 counts of sexual offences in August. There was a 46 counts of rape, 3 counts of attempted rape, 2 counts of abduction with intent to commit rape. Five counts of indecent assault and 14 counts of sexual assault. One of the 26 accused persons was a juvenile.
