Investigation is ongoing into the alleged rape of a Japanese tourist

Police are investigating an alleged rape of a 26-year-old Japanese female tourist by an Indian national at a homestay in Nadi, Fiji.

The incident occurred in late April while the tourist stayed at the property. The tourist claimed to have been attacked by the same man who had asked her to turn off the light earlier.

She had visible injury marks on her neck and leg, which she photographed as evidence.

The incident was reported to the Namaka Police Station, and she underwent medical examinations and tests for diseases and pregnancy, which came back negative.

The victim and her friend contacted the police to bring attention to the need for justice, as the suspect is still at large and may pose a threat to other women.

Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew confirmed that a report was made to the police, and the case is currently under investigation.
