Labasa Police are investigating an alleged defilement of a 14-year-old student who was confirmed pregnant after being taken to Labasa Hospital. The incident occurred in November 2023 when the girl and her boyfriend went to an empty classroom during a sporting event.
The Fiji Police Force urges parents and guardians to counsel their children regularly and discuss issues with them. They facilitate this through school visitations and promote empowerment programs like the Crime Stoppers Scholastic Programme and BlueLight Youth and Leadership Development. The police are also promoting education and awareness about the consequences of actions on children’s future.
