The Ministry of Health in Fiji has partnered with the University of New South Wales Kirby Institute to improve human papillomavirus testing and treatment for women.
Under this partnership, the University of New South Wales Kirby Institute has taken a leading role in training staff on self-collection and specimen analysis using GeneXpert machines and thermal ablation devices.
These less invasive tests offer quicker results and high accuracy.
The training initiative is crucial for Fiji’s strategy to eradicate cervical cancer, which ranks as the second most prevalent cancer among Fijian women.
