Several serious accidents were recorded in the past weeks. These accidents were attributed to driver fatigue and pedestrians’ fault.

In Waidalice, a vehicle driven by a man carrying four others veered off the Wailau Bridge due to driver fatigue, causing the accident.

Three victims were transferred to CWM Hospital, while the driver and the fourth passenger were treated and discharged. Police are investigating further incidents.

Another serious accident occurred along Ratu Mara Road, where a 27-year-old man was admitted to CWM Hospital after being hit by a 41-year-old man. Another incident occurred in the Southern Division, where a 47-year-old man’s vehicle veered onto the opposite lane near Tamavua Village and collided with a bus.

A third vehicle driven by a 37-year-old man was also involved.

Police are urging drivers and pedestrians to be alert and not take their roles and responsibilities regarding road safety lightly.

Complacency can lead to accidents, some of which can have severe and life-altering consequences. It’s important to stay focused and cautious.
