The Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation, Lynda Tabuya, has emphasized that the government is not the only source of financial support for social welfare recipients.
She highlighted that while the family is primarily responsible for financial support, the government offers additional assistance.
Tabuya commended Pacific Polytech for providing vocational training in social welfare and women’s issues.
She also announced a funding allocation of $4.34 million for the Department of Women, which will be dedicated to programs promoting women’s economic empowerment and gender-responsive budgeting, a crucial concept that the public should be informed about.
