The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption has charged Sarika Devi Raj, a former finance officer at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, with two counts of abuse of office.
These charges, amounting to $182,404.99, result from alleged arbitrary acts for gain between September 2019 and June 2020.
Raj was also accused of failing to declare herself the sole proprietor of Maleka Investment, an active vendor for the RFMF.
She was granted $10,000 bail under strict conditions, including not re-offending, interfering with prosecution witnesses, residing at a fixed address, and not relocating without court permission.
These stringent conditions provide reassurance about the seriousness of the case.
Raj was also ordered to surrender her passport and travel documents, provide two sureties with a $10,000 bond, and report to FICAC headquarters monthly.
The case has been adjourned until August 16th 2024.
