Former Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has been denied permission to travel to Singapore on medical grounds.
Magistrate Sufia Hamza dismissed the decision, stating that Sayed-Khaiyum had already undergone heart and kidney treatment in Singapore.
The court is hearing the health tender case of Sayed-Khaiyum, former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, and former Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma.
Urologist Isireli Kaloucava confirmed that post-care treatment is available in Fiji for Sayed-Khaiyum. Magistrate Hamza will not review Magistrate Yogesh Prasad’s decision, who dismissed Sayed-Khaiyum’s bail variation motion to travel to Singapore.
Prasad ruled that there was no evidence of monthly check-ups or urgent medical procedures and no immediate emergency.
Sayed-Khaiyum was excused from court and given 28 days to appeal. The matter is scheduled for September 10th.
