Police conducted video interviews with Salimoni Lagicere, who is charged with the alleged murder of Narend Chand, a visiting Fijian national.
Lagicere and Edward Nand are jointly charged with the crime in Tailevu between February 19th and 20th.
During the interview, Lagicere acknowledged his rights and explained why he was arrested.
He openly recounted his involvement in the crime, including choking the victim with a cable and beating the victim with a rod.
However, he did not participate in the disposal of the victim’s body at the Waito Bridge in Korovou.
The arresting officer admitted that he arrested Lagicere, his cousin when he was given the instruction.
On February 20th, a witness from a village near Korovou found soaked trousers and a car mat by the roadside and threw them away.
The trial continues in the Suva High Court.
