Statistics reveal that women and girls are attacked 10 times more than men online due to patriarchal norms, where women are viewed differently from men.

Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya highlighted this issue at the 2024 Fiji Women’s Mock Parliament, stating that women face cyberbullying more than men.

She believes more women from the Mock Parliament need to step up and become members, hoping it takes less than eight years like her own experience.

Barriers for women to enter politics include financial issues, social media, online attacks, and family issues.

Tabuya emphasizes the importance of courage, passion, and confidence for women to step up when called.

The Fiji Women’s Mock Parliament began today and will continue for three days.
