The Fiji government has allocated $226.8 million to modernize the police force, a significant increase of $41.7 million from the 2023/24 national budget.
The government is initiating a ‘full reset’ of the Fiji Police Force’s approach to law enforcement with a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Fiji Police Force and the Australian Federal Police.
This will involve embedding Australian Federal Police Officers within the Fiji Police Force and appointing a mentor to support the new Police Commissioner.
The Police Reset Strategy is committed to building a police force that serves and protects all members of society with efficiency, fairness, and reasonableness, ensuring that all interactions are conducted with courtesy, respect, and without discrimination or harassment.
