FijiFirst MPs have defended their commitment to the party’s principles of equality, transparency, and accountability. This follows accusations by former Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum that 16 MPs compromised these principles by voting in favor of the Emoluments Committee Report.
Sayed-Khaiyum’s accusations that the MPs compromised the values of equality, justice, and fairness that FijiFirst upholds were met with a clear response. FijiFirst MP Semi Koroilavesau clarified that the MPs’ actions were not a betrayal of the party and its principles but a direct response to Sayed-Khaiyum’s leadership style and party operation, ensuring the audience is well informed about the situation.

Koroilavesau has expressed a strong commitment to upholding Fiji’s legacy of transparency and accountability. In a proactive move, 19 FijiFirst MPs convened a meeting to thoroughly examine the repercussions of officeholders’ resignations and explore alternative courses of action.
