High Court Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza has refused to step down from overseeing Mohammed Isoof’s ongoing appeal case.

Isoof, who was found guilty of the Nausori Highlands murders in 2019 and is currently serving a life sentence at Natabua Corrections Facility, has requested for the second time that Hamza be removed from the case.

Isoof, in a poignant plea, expressed deep-seated concerns about the handling of his personal belongings, including the inexplicable disappearance of his wristwatch and search list.

State lawyer Unal Dev Lal, in a display of thoroughness, informed the court that the exhibit register from Nadi Police Station, meticulously dated January 27, 2022, had been found.

Sergeant Anil Kumar, the investigating officer, was assigned to explain the current status of Isoof’s exhibits, including a mobile phone, an Apple iPad, and the contents of his wallet.

Isoof claimed that a woman named Sunita, residing in New Zealand, had taken possession of his items. The case will be called again on August 15th.
