The increase in teachers' pay is determined by the government's financial capability

The Ministry of Education in Fiji has announced a 7 to 10 percent increase in teacher pay.

Minister for Education Hon. Aseri Radrodro side this increase aims to boost morale and accommodate teachers who missed out on the regular pay process.

The pay raise, which took effect yesterday, is based on the government’s financial capability.

Mr. Aseri Radrodro, praised the Coalition Government and the Ministry of Finance for their significant role in the salary increase.

He called for common sense to prevail and acknowledged the need for improvement in teacher welfare, particularly in rural areas.

He suggested that discussions and reviews could be conducted to address this issue.

The increase is expected to accommodate teachers who had previously missed out on regularising the pay process.
