The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is converting valid Rural Service Licenses (RSLs) issued before January 1, 2018, into minibusses or carrier licenses based on the vehicle type.
Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau stated that 460 RSL permits have been converted. New RSLs have not been issued since January 1, 2018, following Land Transport Public Service Vehicle Regulation amendments.
According to Regulation 18A sub-regulation (6)(d), RSLs issued before this date will be automatically classified as minibus permits or carrier licenses, based on the vehicle’s construction.
The Minister emphasized that the LTA is actively working on converting all RSLs to the appropriate minibus (LM) or carrier licenses (LC).
