Fiji Airport Director of Projects, Niranjwan Chettiar, has announced that its next upgrade will increase its capacity to handle five million passengers, 500,000 domestic passengers, and more than 50,000 tonnes of freight annually.

The upgrade will feature state-of-the-art facilities with improved infrastructure, enabling technology and facilities that provide a seamless travel experience and efficient operations. The airport handles over 2.1 million international and nearly 300,000 domestic passengers annually.

When the upgrade and new development works are completed, Nadi International Airport will be able to handle many international and domestic passengers.

The airport also oversees over 1.3 million tonnes of freight, services 20 airlines, and connects the country to 15 cities globally. Chettiar emphasized the airport’s commitment to sustainable practices, incorporating green technologies and energy-efficient operations.

The airport’s locations will offer connectivity to trade and industry partner customers. The construction and operation of the airport premises will generate many job opportunities across various sectors, stimulating economic growth in the short term and long run.
