Inspector Unaisi Mateiwai of the Fiji Police Force Sexual Offense, Child Abuse, and Scholastic Crime Stoppers Program spoke at an evangelism program in Drekena Village, Rewa.

Both children have broken the law, which carries a life imprisonment sentence. The youngest mother is a 9-year-old girl, and the youngest father is 13.

Inspector Mateiwai also pointed out that all four individuals mentioned are of i-Taukei descent and come from Christian families.

She challenged the community of Drekena in Rewa to take action before the situation worsens and urged community and faith-based leaders to step up in safeguarding the children, who represent the future of Fiji.
