Former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and former Police Chief Sitiveni Qiliho are set to face trial on June 2nd, 2025.

The case, expected to last six weeks, involves allegations of making unwarranted demands as a public official and abuse of office.

Bainimarama is accused of using his position as Prime Minister to influence former Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

Qiliho is charged with abuse of office for allegedly intervening in disciplinary decisions, which resulted in the termination of employment for two officers.

He also faces another charge of abuse of office for similar actions. The State counsel informed the court of pending responses from the defense regarding agreed facts and challenges to the caution interview.

The pre-trial conference is scheduled for January 13. The trial is expected to begin on June 2nd and conclude by July 11.
