The container ship ‘Southern Phoenix’ sank at the Suva Harbour early this morning.

Officers at the wharf are trying to contain an oil spill from the ship.

The ship was loading cargo and containers when the load became unbalanced causing the ship to tilt on one side.

It was carrying goods to Tarawa Island in Kiribati.

There were no casualties.
