A 43-year-old woman has been accused of obtaining financial advantage through deception via a false Facebook advertisement.
She allegedly convinced a victim to send $80 as a guarantee for an investment and then requested an additional $200.
The victim grew suspicious and reported the incident to the Tavua Police Station.
Authorities are advising people to verify the details of individuals or institutions they engage with online and to exercise caution when responding to online requests, as legitimate entities typically do not conduct business via phone or messaging platforms.
