A man in Lautoka has been sentenced to three years and eleven months in prison for stabbing his cousin during a drinking party.

The incident occurred on May 8, 2021. The 39-year-old, who had requested a suspended sentence, was deemed too lenient by High Court judge Justice Sunil Sharma.

Sharma emphasized that severe consequences should be expected for those using weapons or deadly objects.

He also criticized the man, calling him a coward and stating he should feel ashamed.

The man will be eligible for parole after serving two years and six months in custody. The judge criticized the man for not considering the consequences of his actions beforehand.
