Fiji experiences 20 children dying from childhood cancer annually, with an increase of 90 children seeking treatment.
WOWS Kids’ trustee, Anabel Ali, highlighted this during the 2024 National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month launch.
With an operating expense of $250,000, they help save the lives of children through donations.
Their goal is to build a resource center to prevent children from thinking their lives are limited to needles and injections.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica emphasized the government’s commitment to improving cancer treatment facilities and combating childhood cancer.
He urged all sectors of society, including civil society, educators, and individuals, to join the fight against childhood cancer.
Activities for the 2024 National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month include the Great WOWS Walk Challenge, SHAVE OR SAVE Campaign, and Gift Your Birthday.
