The alleged incidents happened between November 1, 2015 to March 3 last year in a village in Tailevu, from the time he was 12-years-old until he was 13-years of age.

Before the start of day one of trial, all four men pleaded not guilty to a count each of rape.

While giving evidence the teenage boy said in November, 2015 his mother had asked him to go and gather coconuts from the bush.

On his way to gather coconuts, the accused saw one of his uncles (accused 2) standing by the pig pen.

As he was passing the pig pen his uncle waved at him and led him into the bush where the victim saw the accused lying down on the grass.

The accused then made the victim lie down where he was lying, and raped him.

He said the act was painful and it lasted for about five seconds.

He said he wanted to scream but his uncle told him not to and also told him not to tell anyone about the incident.

Upon reaching home his mother asked him where the coconuts were, he went straight to the bathroom and had his shower.

His mother then asked him what happened to his thighs, he responded that it was injured and his mother advised him to apply oil on it.

The accused also stated that in January last year he was staying with one of his grandmothers and was lying in the bedroom when he heard someone enter and lock the door.

He said the third accused (52years-old) came to him while he was lying on his side and turned him so he could face him.

The victim said that the accused went closer to him and put his tongue inside his mouth.

He pushed the accused away and went to drink water to wash his mouth.

He said when he came back inside the house the accused was standing by the corridor and was showing his private parts to him and asked him to engage in a sexual act.

The victim said he refused.

Day One of Trial

When asked the victim said that he did not tell his mother that his uncles had allegedly raped him because she would tell his father and the accused men would be killed on that same day.

For the first two accused aged 40 years-old and 36 years of age respectively, it is alleged that they raped him between November 1, 2015 and November 31, 2015.

The third accused aged 52-years-old is also alleged to have raped him  between January 1 to January 19, last year.

The victim was below the age of 13 years-old when both alleged incidents happened.

For the fourth accused aged 42-years-old, he is alleged to have raped the victim without his consent on March 3 last year.

In his evidence, the teenage boy said his uncle (the first accused) had told him not to tell anyone about the alleged incident after sodomising him.

He said the act was hurtful and it lasted for about 20minutes.

He said after raping him his uncle put on his trousers and went inside the living room and was sitting on the chair.

The victim stated that after the alleged incident he was tasked to go to a nearby house to get a pie dish and when he returned his mother questioned him as to what had happened to his thighs.

He responded that his thighs were injured after which he went to the bathroom and took a shower.

“I did not tell my mother because she would have told my father and he (uncle) would be killed on that same day because of what he did to me,” the victim said.

Trial continues in the High Court on Monday.
