While naming the squad last week Friday Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said Gamel has made it clear that no one’s place in the national team is fixed; everyone will need to prove themselves to be considered for the national team.

“The Fiji team will be embarking on a tour to Indonesia and the national coach with his coaching staff has named the players for the tour,” Patel said.

“As you all know Christophe Gamel has decided that he will be looking at talent and those players who have represented Fiji don’t have a cemented place in the team unless the player has reached the level that Gamel has set and maintains it.

“That is really good to see and because of that the performance of the national side is improving, doesn’t matter which district you are from, as long as you prove yourself to be in the national team.”

Patel said that the players would need to prove themselves to be considered for the next friendly game against Hong Kong.

The team marches into camp from August 19 in Ba.
