When asked by Fiji village on why this has been the case, Akbar says they are acting on the issues highlighted.

When asked on the role of the Permanent Secretary in implementing the civil service reforms in the Health Ministry, Akbar says his role is to look at the implementation process.

Sayed-Khaiyum has also said that the Ministry is doing things on their own after issues raised like nurses were not being paid overtime.

Akbar says she will ensure that all these issues are addressed as it did not reach her table in the past.

Akbar says they are still discussing the issue regarding nurses wanting the $20 meal allowance. Some nurses have said that they do not want to eat the meals provided by the hospitals.

Meanwhile the lab technicians had also raised the issue that they were not included in the new salary bands and their contracts have not been given.

Akbar says they will definitely look into this.
