UPDATED: 7:37am – Air New Zealand has yesterday operated a special Dreamliner flight, taking kids with critical medical conditions like cancer and heart disease, on a flight over part of New Zealand.

The flight, the path of which formed a love heart shape, left Auckland Airport just after midday, with 50 children on board.

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman says the airline donates around 100 airfares a year for overseas holidays for children living with serious medical conditions.

“But this year we wanted to do something extra special for the kids who can’t travel on Koru Care’s international trips due tot their medical or family situation.”
