Nadi Football general secretary, Mohammed Rafiq said there are no major changes to the team. And the impressive win by the Blues FC at the Vodafone 2017 National Club Championship two weeks ago, has been a morale booster for the jet –set team.

“After the NCC, the boys are happy and I am amazed by the focus and commitment they are showing,” he said.

“We have been training for the past three weeks and I am very much pleased with the 100 per cent attendance from the boys. It is true that we have not won the IDC since 2002 but we will fight the odds.”

Rafiq confirmed is New Zealand-based midfielder Rahul Krishna.

“Krishna is back and we are fortunate to have him with us,” he said.

“Krishna is a strong mid-fielder and will be an asset to the team.”

He also cleared the air on Ba midfielder Avinesh Warran Suwamy.

“There was nothing concrete on his availability to play for Nadi”.

The ‘Green Machine’ will include striker William Valentine, Josefata Dugucagi and goalkeeper Samuela Tamanisau and youth reps Patrick Joseph, Tito Waqa, Jone Ralulu and Sake Tale.

Nadi has won the IDC six times and featured as runner up in 18 finals since 1942. Meanwhile, Nadi beat Nadroga 2-1 in a three 30 minute sessions in their friendly on Sunday.

Their first pool match is against Tavua on Tuesday, 3pm, Suva on Wednesday at 4pm, Lautoka on Thursday at 8pm.
