Lautoka wins VPL title after 8 years | NZ FIJI TIMES

UPDATED: 7:28am – The Lautoka soccer team has achieved their aim of winning the Vodafone Premier League title after 8 years after beating Suva 2-1.

Lautoka took the lead through a Siotame Kubu goal before Kelvin Naidu equalised for Suva. Jone Vesikula was the hero for the blues as he scored the winner late into the second half. Lautoka has 34 points.

In another match Ba beat Dreketi 3-0 and are in a good place to finish second and qualify for the OFC Champions League. Ba has 25 points and will need to beat Lautoka next weekend to confirm their spot.

Labasa also has a chance to finish second in the VPL as they have two matches remaining and they will hope that Ba drops points against Lautoka and Labasa is able to win their remaining two matches.

Labasa will play Ba and Rakiraki in their two remaining matches. Meanwhile in another match Rewa came from behind to beat Nadi 3-2.
