Maciu Nalumisa, Minister for Local Government, has reported that three people have died in fire incidents this year.
He further highlighted that last year, six individuals, including one child, died as a result of fires.
From July 2021 to July 2022, the main causes of fires were electrical, arson, and unattended cooking.
Nalumisa emphasized the National Fire Authority’s efforts to install safer electrical materials in homes to reduce fires.
Intensify public awareness campaigns by conducting house-to-house visits and school outreach.
