A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a shooting in Palmerston North earlier this month.
Police responded to reports of a firearm fight on Rangitikei St on August 13th. They found a man with an injury consistent with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to the hospital.
Police searched a Milson address and arrested one of two men who had been sought in connection with the incident.
The 28-year-old man is set to appear in the Palmerston North District Court today. Man was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Officers are still actively searching for a 31-year-old man believed to be involved and urged him to “come forward to speak with us.”
The victim has since been released from hospital and faces a long road to recovery. Victim Support is providing continuous assistance.
Anyone with information could contact police on 105 or online. The incident followed four other firearm incidents in August, all evidentially linked by police.
An 18-year-old Horowhenua woman was charged with using a firearm against law enforcement over the August 9 incident.
On August 11th a police car was shot at in the suburb of Highbury. Three men were arrested and charged about this incident, and three firearms were seized.
Investigations into four incidents are ongoing, with additional charges are expected to be filed.
