A man, Jon Raciri, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Suva after he murdered a 21-year-old woman at Bayview Heights.
Raciri, a security guard, had pleaded guilty to one count of murder and one count of acting with intent to cause grievous harm.
The incident occurred on June 9th, when Raciri, who worked as a security guard, was drinking with two women.
The victim asked Raciri to open the main gate, but he became angry and struck her face multiple times.
The victim escaped and cried for help, which neighbours heard.
The police arrived and arrested Raciri, who smelled heavily of liquor.
