Update: 6:24 am – Vodafone Flying Fijians side will play Ireland, Italy, and Canada on the Northern Tour later this year and McKee said the matches would prepare the players for the RWC.

“We play Italy, Ireland, and Canada so I am looking forward to these matches and when we review our performance throughout the campaign. I have to work on the particular skills of the players so when we come in for the next campaign we can take the step up from the current campaign,” he said.

“The Test matches we play are set up by World Rugby and we have been assured that we will get Tier One Tests.

“It is very important to play Tier One teams on our way to the Rugby World Cup and to beat Tier One teams if we want to progress to the play-offs. We need to play at that level consistently.”

McKee said the match against Samoa would be very tough for the team.

“I want to keep the good campaign going and we had three wins from the four Test matches and it is pretty good and especially considering we have played three Tier One nations,” he said.

“If we are able to make it four out of five then it would be a very good campaign.

“We have a lot of work to do though we are at a certain level now and we need to be better to achieve higher results in the Rugby World Cup.

“I am looking forward to the next game against Samoa and we are really focused on finishing on a strong note this week.”

Samoa hosts Fiji in Apia on Saturday in the final match of the 2017 Pacific Nations Cup.
