Nadi to face Rewa in BOG final after beating Lautoka in penalty shoot-out | NZ FIJI TIMES

Update: 7:44pm – Nadi soccer team captain and goal keeper Vereti Dickson was the hero for the side as he saved three penalties in the semifinal match of the Inkk Mobile BOG against Lautoka as they won 3-1 in the penalty shoot-out.

Nadi will now play Rewa in the final at 2.30pm tomorrow at Churchill Park which will be the repeat of the Vodafone Fiji FACT final which Rewa won 1-0.

The match started at a frantic pace as both teams tried to score in normal time of the match but Dickson and Lautoka goalkeeper.

Beniamino Mateinaqara made numerous saves during the game to keep the scores leveled at nil-all.

After extra time, Nadi won the coin toss and elected to defend the first penalty.

Lautoka midfielder Zibraaz Sahib scored Lautoka’s only goal in the penalty shootout while Lisari Qalica, Jone Vono Junior and Mateinaqara’s penalties were saved by Dickson.

Nadi’s goals were scored by Napolioni Qasevakatini, Rusiate Matarereqa and Ame Votuniu while Elvin Prasad missed for Nadi.

Nadi’s hero Vereti Dickson says they had been working hard with their coaches. Lautoka soccer coach Kamal Swamy says they had chances to score in normal time.

Nadi will play Rewa at 2.30pm tomorrow at Churchill Park.
