NATIONAL NEWS : Coronavirus: Defence Force ready to enforce lockdown if asked

Protection Minister Ron Mark says the military is prepared to help implement lockdown rules whenever solicited, however starting at yet no solicitation has been made.

“The police are in control, they’re the lead office,” he said. “We’re working, similar to every other office, with the police, meeting the solicitations from each other Government office – whatever the Government organizations need in method for help we’ll give when they ask to it, it’s basically as basic as that.”

On Monday, Mark reported that New Zealand was pulling back the entirety of its military work force from Camp Taji in Iraq.

Prior this week, the Defense Force affirmed that seven individuals had tried positive for COVID-19.

“Nobody has indicated any side effects whatsoever as for Taji,” Mark said.
