NATIONAL NEWS: Earthquake felt overnight across New Zealand magnitude of 7.4

A 7.4 greatness seismic tremor, which struck off the bank of Gisborne in the early long periods of Friday morning, was felt across New Zealand.

The tremor was 33km profound, and about 700km north-east of Gisborne.

It occurred at 12.49 am, with almost 9000 reports of individuals having felt it on the GeoNet site. It was felt as far south as Dunedin, with solid shaking felt over the east shore of the North Island.

The National Emergency Management Agency gave an admonition that the tremor could make a tidal wave, yet later affirmed there was no hazard to New Zealand.

Some coast territories may encounter solid flows and eccentric floods.

A police representative said no harm had at this point been accounted for because of the shudder.

Some web-based social networking clients portrayed the Earthquake as “average” and enduring quite a while.

“Hmm, that was a significant average shake here is Gisborne at the beginning of today. Expectation everybody is alright out there,” one Gisborne client tweeted.
