NATIONAL NEWS: Pedestrian dies after being hit by a truck in Glen Eden

A person on foot has kicked the bucket in the wake of being hit by a truck in Glen Eden, police have affirmed.

The occurrence happened at the crossing point of Glenmall Pl and Glendale Rd soon after 8am, a Fire and Emergency NZ representative said.

Witnesses said they accepted the vehicle included was a waste truck. Auckland Council has been drawn nearer for input.

St John affirmed it was at the scene and reacted with one emergency vehicle.

A laborer at a close by café, said she hadn’t heard the accident occur yet the scene thereafter looked “extremely terrible”.

“I can see a white sheet concealing something, it doesn’t take a gander by any stretch of the imagination.”

She said she had been made aware of the accident when she started hearing various alarms sounding and various crisis administrations slid on the scene.

“It would seem that a truck, perhaps a waste truck was included.”

A police representative said Glendale Rd has been shut between Oates Rd and West Coast Rd.

The Serious Crash Unit has been prompted.
