A 16-year-old boy was arrested after bringing a knife into a North Shore secondary school and allegedly threatening office staff.

The incident occurred at Long Bay College, and the teenager is now facing charges of threatening to kill, assaulting police, wilful damage, and trespass in the North Shore Youth Court.

Inspector Mike Rickards, relieving area commander for Waitematā East, stated that Youth Aid police staff swiftly approached the offender and managed to disarm him.

Fortunately, no lockdown was necessary, and no one was injured. The police are investigating the incident and working closely with the school.

The 16-year-old is set to appear in the North Shore Youth Court.
