The funeral for Mustafa Ali, a 10-month-old, was attended by approximately 100 people.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Te Kūiti baby Mustafa Ali. The baby died on the 8th of June following violent, blunt-force trauma.

The baby was brought unconscious to Te Kuiti Hospital but was unable to be resuscitated. An initial examination revealed traumatic injuries. Police believe the injuries were not accidental and have been speaking to the baby’s family members to establish the cause of the injury.

The police investigation into Mustafa’s death and other incidents is ongoing, with a continued presence in the area. There is a possibility of further charges due to the ongoing investigation.

The man is due to appear in Hamilton District Court on Saturday. Police express gratitude to those who provided information to assist in the investigation.

Police are continuing to support Mustafa’s wider family as they grieve the loss of their little boy.
